How Alaska handles work zones

Alaska doubles it. Every traffic fine, and the maximum fine, is double the normal amount inside a designated highway work zone or traffic safety corridor (AS 28.90.030). The trigger is the signed zone, not a visible crew, so the double sticks even when the site looks quiet. The rule covers all violations, not just speeding. A flagger's paddle controls traffic and ignoring it is citable (13 AAC 02). Alaska allows no automated speed cameras, so no work-zone ticket by mail.
