When Wyoming makes you pull in

Wyoming is sign-driven. Every commercial truck stops at a Port of Entry on the sign or a trooper's order (Wyo. Stat. 31-18-301). A PrePass or Drivewyze green light rolls a legal rig past, unless you haul livestock or run oversize or overweight. Ports line I-80 (Evanston, Fort Bridger, Cheyenne) and I-25. Ignore a port sign or stop order and it is a misdemeanor; overweight and oversize violations run $100 to $500 and up to 30 days (Wyo. Stat. 31-18-805).

Stations, bypass, and inspection

• Who must stop: Only when a sign directs
• Where the stations are: Ports of Entry ring the borders on I-80 (Evanston, Fort Bridger, Cheyenne, Pine Bluffs), I-25 (Cheyenne), and I-90 (Sundance, Beulah), plus US routes. Regulatory signs direct trucks in; many key ports staff long hours.
• Bypass: PrePass and Drivewyze both operate in Wyoming (Drivewyze added the Cheyenne POE and Evanston on I-80). A department bypass authorization for a legal, properly credentialed rig, or a green light, lets you roll past, unless a sign or trooper specifically directs you to stop or you haul livestock or run oversize/overweight.
• Ag / border inspection: No produce or pest inspection stations. Wyoming runs livestock brand inspection through the Livestock Board, not at highway agricultural checkpoints.
• Fine for passing an open station: Ignoring a port sign or an officer's stop order is a misdemeanor citation. Wyoming's set penalty range for size and weight violations under Wyo. Stat. 31-18-805 runs not less than $100 nor more than $500, up to 30 days in jail, or both, and overweight tickets carry their own escalating per-pound fines.
