Nevada Oversize & Overweight Permits
Over 8'6" wide, 14' high, 70' long, or 80,000 lb, you pull an NDOT over-dimensional permit (NRS Chapter 484D). Five-day single trip is $25, annual multi-trip $60. Length over 110' takes one escort; 14' wide takes one, 16' two, and superload widths add the Highway Patrol. Apply online at least 10 business days out. Wide loads move in daylight, and metro peak hours and holidays close the road.

Thresholds, escorts, and curfews
- Legal max before a permit: Permit needed over 8'6" wide, 14' high, 70' long, 10' overhang, or 80,000 lb.
- Escort / pilot car: Length over 110' takes 1 escort (120' if the trailer has a mechanically steered rear axle). Over 14' wide takes 1 escort, over 16' takes 2, and superload widths can add the Highway Patrol; a load over 15'6" high needs a clearance pole. The pilot vehicle must be a car or light truck (two axles, rated 16,000 lb or less) with a certified operator.
- Superload: Loads beyond routine permit limits (roughly 17' wide on 2-3 lane, 19' on 4-plus-lane, 18' high, or 200' long) or very heavy move on a superload/special-purpose permit with route and structure review. The exact numeric superload line is set by NDOT on the permit.
- Travel curfew: Overwidth and over-height loads move in daylight; some loads may run continuously per the permit. Las Vegas and Reno peak-hour limits and holiday no-move periods apply, all set on the permit. Apply online at least 10 business days before the move; the permit locks route, dates, and travel hours.
- Permit fee: $25 for a 5-day single-trip permit; $60 for an annual multi-trip permit; superload/special-purpose $25 plus any extraordinary expenses.
