Mud Flap Laws No. MS Required

Mississippi Truck Mud Flap Law

Mississippi ties clearance to geometry, not inches. Trucks, tractors, trailers and buses over ten tons gross must carry metal protectors or flexible flaps behind the rearmost wheels (63-7-73). The gap can't exceed one-fifth of the distance from the rear axle's center to the flap's center, measured under any load, and the flap must be as wide as the tire. Pole trailers, dump trucks and F-tag trucks are exempt. Roadside it's a fix-it citation, roughly $25 first offense, not an out-of-service.
