Mississippi Weigh Stations & Ag Inspection
Mississippi is blunt: refuse to stop and submit to a weighing when an officer or MDOT enforcement directs and you've committed a misdemeanor, up to $1,000 or 30 days in jail or both (Miss. Code § 63-5-49). Officers may weigh any vehicle on portable or fixed scales. Stations sit on I-10, I-20, I-55, I-59 and the shared I-20/59 near Alabama; a lit sign is your order. PrePass and Drivewyze bypass open stations, green to roll.

Stations, bypass, and inspection
- Who must stop: All CMVs must stop
- Where the stations are: MDOT and DPS run fixed inspection and weigh stations on the main interstates: I-10, I-20, I-55, I-59 and the shared I-20/59 near the Alabama state line. Hours vary with lit signs; portable scales and patrols cover the corridors between.
- Bypass: PrePass and Drivewyze both operate in Mississippi, including the I-20/59 stations near the Alabama line and sites on I-55 and I-10. Green means stay on the highway; red or no signal means pull in.
- Ag / border inspection: No highway produce or ag inspection stations. Mississippi weigh and inspection stations check weight, credentials and safety.
- Fine for passing an open station: Failing or refusing to stop and submit to a weighing is a misdemeanor: up to $1,000, or up to 30 days in the county jail, or both, plus any overweight assessment (Miss. Code § 63-5-49).
