Florida Truck Mud Flap Law
Florida requires splash-and-spray suppression on trucks of 26,000 pounds GVW or more, any truck tractor, and trailers or semitrailers of 2,000 pounds net weight or more (Fla. Stat. 316.252). Fenders, covers or substantial flexible flaps on the rearmost wheels must cut water and mud spray off following windshields. Farm and forestry rigs are exempt. The statute names no clearance or width figure. A violation is a noncriminal, nonmoving infraction under Chapter 318, a low-dollar fine, not an out-of-service call.
