Florida Weigh Stations & Ag Inspection
Two different stops in Florida. FDOT/FHP weigh stations check weight when signs direct (Fla. Stat. § 316.545). Separately, about two dozen FDACS agricultural stations on inbound I-10, I-75, and I-95 make passing without stopping a second-degree misdemeanor (Fla. Stat. § 570.15). Every commercial truck stops there; ag loads get pulled for paperwork and sampling, and the stations now run broader interdiction screening. PrePass and Drivewyze bypass the scales; a separate Drivewyze program covers the ag stations.

Stations, bypass, and inspection
- Who must stop: All CMVs must stop
- Where the stations are: Two networks. FDOT/FHP weigh stations check weight and safety on lit open/closed signs. FDACS agricultural inspection stations sit at state-line entry points on I-10, I-75, I-95 and major highways, screening inbound commercial traffic. Passenger cars, RVs, and pickups without agricultural products are exempt from the ag stations.
- Bypass: PrePass and Drivewyze both bypass Florida's FDOT/FHP weigh stations. The FDACS agricultural stations are a separate regime: Florida runs its own Agriculture Bypass Program through Drivewyze for enrolled carriers. A weigh-station subscription alone does not clear the ag stations.
- Ag / border inspection: About two dozen FDACS agricultural inspection stations on inbound I-10, I-75, I-95 and other entry corridors. Every commercial vehicle must stop when directed; agricultural, horticultural, and livestock loads get pulled for paperwork and sampling. These stations expanded into broader interdiction screening of commercial traffic in 2025.
- Fine for passing an open station: Passing an FDACS agricultural inspection station without stopping is a second-degree misdemeanor, up to $500 and 60 days (Fla. Stat. § 570.15 via §§ 775.082/775.083). Weigh-station weight violations fall under Fla. Stat. § 316.545.
