Washington Tire Chain Laws

$500 flat, including all statutory assessments (RCW 47.36.250). From about November 1 to April 1, vehicles over 10,000 lbs must carry enough chains plus two extra, and mount them when WSDOT posts the requirement. Does Washington have a tire chain law?
Yes. Washington can require commercial vehicles to chain up. $500 flat, including all statutory assessments.
When are chains required in Washington?
Roughly November 1 to April 1, and any time signs are posted. A chain-up is live only when WSDOT posts the requirement on the pass approach (RCW 47.36.250).
Where do Washington's chain requirements apply?
Mountain passes when posted: I-90 Snoqualmie, I-82, SR-97, US-2 Stevens Pass, SR-410 Chinook Pass, US-12 White Pass, and other posted routes.
Does Washington accept AutoSock or alternative traction devices?
