Rhode Island Weight-Distance Tax

No weight-distance or highway-use tax in Rhode Island. Its RhodeWorks truck-only tolls are a separate tolling program, not a per-mile tax you register and file for. A federal judge struck those tolls down in 2022, but the First Circuit reversed in December 2024 and the state is moving to bring the gantry tolls back. Either way, that is a toll fight, not a weight-distance tax. You still owe IFTA fuel tax, keep an IRP apportioned plate, and at 55,000 lb and up file the federal 2290 HVUT, the same as every state.
