Michigan Weight-Distance Tax

Michigan charges no state weight-distance or highway-use tax. Only Kentucky, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, and Connecticut do, and Michigan is not one of them. You still owe IFTA fuel tax, which the Michigan Department of Treasury administers, and IRP apportioned registration, which runs through the Michigan Department of State. At 55,000 lb and up you also owe the federal Form 2290 HVUT, same as every state. There is no additional per-mile permit or decal to buy before you run Michigan roads.
