Illinois Truck Speed Limit

Statewide, trucks run the same 70 as cars on rural interstates. The catch is the Chicago collar. In Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties, any truck over 8,000 lb is capped at 60 on the interstate and 55 on every other road (625 ILCS 5/11-601). Everywhere else there is no split. And Illinois will charge you: 26 to 34 over is a Class B misdemeanor, 35+ is a Class A misdemeanor (625 ILCS 5/11-601.5).
