Truck Lane Rule No. UT Statewide truck law

Utah Truck Lane Restrictions

Utah keeps heavy trucks out of the far-left lane. If your gross vehicle weight rating is 18,001 pounds or more, you can't run the leftmost lane on any freeway with three or more lanes each way (Utah Code 41-6a-702). You can use it only to line up a left exit, dodge merging traffic, or handle an emergency. HOV and short merge lanes don't count toward the three. The violation is an infraction.
