Which lanes a truck can use in Iowa

Iowa has no truck-specific left-lane law. The rule for you is the general keep-right (Iowa Code 321.297): drive on the right half, and if you are moving slower than traffic, stay in the right lane except to pass or set up a left turn. Same for every vehicle. The scheduled fine is $135 plus the state surcharge and court costs. Pass on the left, then move back right.

• Where it applies: All roadways statewide. No truck-only corridor and no Des Moines metro truck-lane routing. I-80, I-35, and I-29 carry no left-lane truck ban.
