Nebraska Studded Tire Law
Run metal studs November 1 to April 1 (Neb. Rev. Stat. 60-6,250). Studs cap at 5/16-inch diameter and 7/64-inch average protrusion. No weight limit, so a loaded truck can legally stud up in season; school buses, mail carriers, and emergency vehicles get studs year-round. Off-season studs are a traffic infraction, up to $100 first offense. Nebraska has no chain mandate, and studs do not count as chains anyway.

The window and winter-tire rules
- Season: November 1 to April 1 (Neb. Rev. Stat. 60-6,250). School buses, mail-carrier vehicles, and emergency vehicles may run studs any time of year.
- No M+S/3PMSF traction-tire law and no mandatory chain law — chains are permitted for safety, not required. Studs are not chains: an ice or weather situation that would call for chains is not covered by studded tires. See the Nebraska chain-law page.
