Thresholds, escorts, and curfews
- Legal max before a permit: No permit up to 8'6" wide, 13'6" high, 80,000 lb, and 48' trailer. Over any one of those and CTDOT issues an OS/OW permit before the move.

Length on a divided highway: over 100' one, over 120' two; undivided: over 80' one, over 100' two. Superloads usually ride behind Connecticut State Police.
- Superload: Over 14' wide, 14' high, or 120' long is a Super Load. Over 140,000 lb triggers an engineering review before the permit issues; single-trips over 200,000 lb add an engineering-analysis fee of $2 per each 1,000 lb over 200,000.
- Travel curfew: Daylight only, half-hour after sunrise to half-hour before sunset. Nothing moves 6:30-9 a.m. or 4-6 p.m. No weekends or holidays for standard loads; small loads (under 12' wide, 13'6" high, 80' long, 120,000 lb on 5+ axles) can run to noon Saturday and Sunday if requested when ordering. Loads 13'6"+ wide or over 14' high: Tuesday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. only. Superloads move nights.
