If not, drop to 15 mph on an undivided road or 25 mph on a divided highway. It's a misdemeanor, up to $500 and up to 60 days in jail. Hurt someone and you lose your license 6 months; a death costs you 2 years.

You must do it for Police, fire, EMS, tow, and highway vehicles, and since 2025 any stopped vehicle displaying emergency flashers, hazard lights, flares, or a retroreflective warning sign.
