What Louisiana requires

Louisiana keeps the fine low, but the rule is the same. Move over a lane for any vehicle stopped with emergency or warning lights on, or slow to a safe speed if you can't. The fine tops out at $200 (La. R.S. 32:125). It covers emergency vehicles, wreckers, and DOTD trucks with their signals on, not a plain disabled car with hazards.

Who you move over for, and the fallback

• Move over for: Authorized emergency vehicles, wreckers, DOTD vehicles, and other vehicles displaying authorized emergency or warning lights while parked on or near the highway. Not a plain disabled vehicle with hazard lights.
• If you can't move over: Change into a lane not next to the parked vehicle if you can do it safely. If you can't, slow to a reasonably safe speed for conditions.
• The $200 cap has no built-in injury/death escalator inside §32:125, though Louisiana's separate negligent-injuring statutes can apply to a crash.

What a violation costs

Fine not to exceed $200. The move-over section itself sets no separate penalty for injury or death.
