Florida Truck Following Distance

300 feet, but read it right: it only bites when your truck (or a rig towing) is behind ANOTHER truck out on the open road, outside a business or residence district (Fla. Stat. 316.0895(2)). It never stops you from passing and switches off on any lane designated for trucks or slow vehicles. Following a car, or anytime in town or traffic, the rule is reasonable and prudent (316.0895(1)) — a 3-point moving violation.
