Ohio Tire Chain Laws

Ohio has no chain law for trucks. Chains are permitted, not required. State law exempts chains from the studded-tire rule whenever there's snow or ice on the road (ORC 5589.081). Studded tires themselves are legal only November 1 through April 15. No DOT posts R-1, R-2, or a Chains Required order in Ohio. Nothing forces a truck to chain up. Slow down and check OHGO for road conditions.
