Ohio Truck Mud Flap Law

Ohio requires flaps or wheel protectors on the rearmost wheels of commercial rigs over 3 tons loaded, unless a fender or body covers those wheels to the axle centerline (ORC 5577.11). Flaps must be at least as wide as the tires, and the ground gap can't exceed one third of the distance from the rear axle center to the flap. The fine caps at $25 (5577.99). A flap legal under a fixed 8-inch rule can still fail Ohio's proportion test.
