Breadner Trailers Becomes First Canadian Xcient Hydrogen Dealer

Key Details Breadner Trailers has been named the first Canadian dealer for Hyundai's Xcient Class 8 hydrogen fuel cell electric tractor. The Breslau, Ontario-based company operates three facilities across Canada and was already an established Hyundai Translead dealer. Hyundai Translead officially became the Xcient distributor on October 26, 2025. Market Momentum The Xcient has been available for order in both the U.S. and Canada since July 2025. Currently, 11 Xcient tractors are operating in Canada, including units deployed in British Columbia's BC Hydrogen Ports Project at the Port of Vancouver. Customer lead times typically range between three and four months depending on plant backlog. Why It Matters Hyundai is currently the only truck manufacturer supplying Class 8 hydrogen fuel cell tractors in North America after competitors delayed production or filed for bankruptcy. The company expects to ship as many as 100 Xcient tractors to the U.S. in 2026. The updated powertrain system was tailored for North American operators, offering a maximum range of 450 miles and improved safety and driver comfort features. Production Details The Xcient continues to be built at Hyundai's Jeonju plant in South Korea. The new generation features a 180-kilowatt powertrain using two 90-kW fuel cell stacks alongside a 72-kilowatt-hour battery pack and 350-kW e-motor.
