CHP recovers $2.2 million in stolen cargo from Anaheim warehouse
California Highway Patrol investigators recovered more than $2.2 million in stolen merchandise from an Anaheim warehouse on June 18, according to FreightWaves. The search warrant execution by the Border Division Cargo Theft Interdiction Program and Organized Retail Crime Task Force uncovered cargo connected to multiple theft investigations. Among the recovered items were approximately 22,000 boxes of TaylorMade golf balls, Meta server switches, Tamiya hobby products, and 29 pallets of Horizon Hobby merchandise. CHP announced the recovery on June 24 and said the investigation remains active, though the agency has not identified any suspects or announced arrests. The seizure reflects California's ongoing cargo theft problem, which has hit trucking and logistics operations hard. Shippers and carriers across the state face growing losses from organized theft rings targeting high-value freight at warehouses, distribution centers, and in-transit shipments. CHP has not disclosed how the cargo was stolen, how the warehouse was located, or whether the merchandise has been returned to its owners. The agency also declined to provide additional details about potential criminal charges or whether more arrests are expected.
