CVSA July Enforcement Week Targets Unsafe Driving Behaviors Across North America

Key Details The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance will conduct Operation Safe Driver Week from July 12-18, 2026, across North America. Federal, state, and local law enforcement will increase patrols targeting both commercial and passenger vehicle drivers engaged in dangerous behaviors. What Law Enforcement Will Watch Officers will focus on speeding, distracted driving, fatigued driving, tailgating, impaired driving, seatbelt violations, unsafe lane changes, and signal violations. Drivers caught committing these infractions will face citations. Why It Matters The initiative aims to improve roadway safety through education and enforcement. Last year's Operation Safe Driver Week resulted in 2,504 citations and 3,575 warnings. Commercial drivers received 1,839 citations and 3,230 warnings, while passenger vehicle operators received 665 citations and 345 warnings. Additional Safety Focus The CVSA is also scheduling its annual International Roadcheck inspection campaign for May 12-14, 2026. This year's emphasis will target cargo securement violations and Electronic Logging Device tampering. Drivers should ensure compliance with all safety regulations during both enforcement periods.
