SuperEgo Faces Class Action Over Alleged Paycheck Fraud Scheme
Key Details A class action lawsuit filed in 2022 against leasing company SuperEgo has gained momentum following a 60 Minutes investigation into fraudulent trucking practices. While only 12 drivers are named plaintiffs, 800 others have joined the suit. Any driver who worked for SuperEgo or affiliated carriers since August 5, 2012 and were paid percentage-based compensation can join. Allegations The lawsuit alleges SuperEgo engaged in a systematic scheme to defraud drivers through altered rate confirmation sheets. Drivers claim they received broker rate confirmations showing one price, but SuperEgo provided secretly modified versions reflecting lower amounts. According to the suit, drivers were promised 88% of load prices minus truck rental, insurance, and fuel costs, but received less than agreed while being overcharged for fuel. Why It Matters Some drivers report ending up with negative paychecks from these practices. Attorneys allege certain drivers felt pressured to violate DOT driving hour limits just to avoid negative balances. SuperEgo denies wrongdoing, claiming it is a leasing company not responsible for affiliated carriers' actions. The case remains in discovery phase with ongoing legal proceedings.
