Prime Inc. Investing $160M in New Southeast Regional Terminal Near Atlanta
Key Details Prime Inc. is investing more than $160 million to build a major regional hub near Griffin, Georgia. The 161,000-square-foot facility will be constructed in phases, with operations beginning in the final quarter of 2027. Initial construction is scheduled to start in the second or third quarter of 2026. Why It Matters This marks Prime's first full-service terminal in the Southeast, filling a significant gap in the carrier's regional footprint. The Springfield, Missouri-based company operates major hubs in Springfield, Pittston, Pennsylvania, and Salt Lake City. The new Georgia location will primarily serve Prime's longhaul drivers and enable better service to southeastern customers. Job Creation and Hiring The project will generate more than 120 full-time jobs and support the addition of more than 50 professional drivers. Initial hiring will focus on mechanics, drivers, and facility maintenance staff. According to CEO Robert Low, the strategic location in Spalding County enhances Prime's ability to serve customers while providing convenient access for fleet personnel. About Prime Prime operates more than 9,600 trucks and 13,800 trailers, ranking 19th among North America's largest for-hire fleets. The company is the top refrigerated truckload and less-than-truckload carrier, offering refrigerated, flatbed, tanker, hopper, intermodal, and logistics services. The company's last major expansion was the 2022 Minooka, Illinois facility.
