Indiana Logistics Firm Launches RNG Fleet With 60 New Freightliners
Key Details Sagepoint Logistics will launch a dedicated interstate truckload carrier in June 2025 with 60 Freightliner Cascadias powered by Cummins X15N natural gas engines. The Carmel, Indiana-based company previously operated intrastate routes transporting manure and digestate, but will expand to interstate operations once the tractors arrive. This fleet expansion represents a 200% increase in Sagepoint's total capacity. Why It Matters The new trucks will run entirely on renewable natural gas sourced from parent company Sagepoint Energy's waste-to-energy facilities. This vertical integration gives Sagepoint direct control over fuel supply, allowing the carrier to offer customers predictable pricing and measurable Scope 3 emission reductions. The move addresses growing shipper demand for sustainable transportation options without fuel price exposure. What's Next Sagepoint Energy, formed in March 2025 from a merger of three companies, is backed by Ares Management Infrastructure Opportunities funds. The company owns four waste-to-energy plants. Vice President of Logistics Curt Reitz is overseeing the fleet expansion. Sagepoint may pursue refrigerated, flatbed and tanker services after establishing its dry van operations. Truck Country in Wisconsin is handling the tractor acquisition.
