Windrose Plans 1,000+ KM Range EV Trucks by 2030
Key Details Windrose Technology has unveiled an ambitious roadmap to deliver battery-electric Class 8 trucks exceeding 1,000 kilometers of range by 2030. The company's Generation 4 models will feature batteries larger than 960 kWh, nearly double the capacity of current offerings. By comparison, today's long-range R700s deliver 400-450 miles with 730 kWh packs. Why It Matters This progression addresses a critical pain point for fleet operators considering electrification. The journey from 670 km (Generation 2) to 1,000+ km (Generation 4) within six years demonstrates rapid advancement in battery technology. Windrose also plans to expand charging beyond the Megawatt Charging System standard, improving infrastructure flexibility. What's Next Generation 3 models arriving in 2028 will introduce oil-cooled motors and enhanced range to 507 miles. Generation 4 trucks launching in 2030 will add dual-door cabs, proprietary suspension, and steering-by-wire systems designed for autonomous operations. The company has already secured over 100 committed orders, with 20 from U.S. customers scheduled for the next six months. Production Update Windrose began U.S. deliveries April 1 and is ramping manufacturing at a Hubei Province facility capable of producing 5,000 cabs annually.
