SAF-Holland BrakeSight Cuts Brake Maintenance Costs with Real-Time Monitoring
Key Details SAF-Holland unveiled BrakeSight at the American Trucking Associations' Technology & Maintenance Council Annual Meeting in Nashville on March 15. The real-time brake pad wear monitor integrates directly into Haldex ModulT air disc brakes, providing maintenance managers with precise insights on brake pad and rotor wear at each wheel end. How It Works The system uses a sensor mounted in the brake caliper that connects to a frame-mounted electronic control unit. It operates reliably across extreme temperatures from minus 40 to 125 degrees Celsius with a three-year or 350,000-mile warranty. BrakeSight works with all telematics products and is compatible with both tractor and trailer air disc brakes. Why It Matters Fleets currently react to brake wear after damage occurs, leading to costly unexpected downtime and emergency repairs. By monitoring wear in real time, BrakeSight enables proactive maintenance scheduling that extends rotor life and reduces overall maintenance expenses. This shifts the maintenance approach from reactive problem-solving to predictive planning. What Else SAF-Holland also introduced two additional products: the Holland SmartSTO fifth wheel uncoupling tool launching Q4 2026 and the UltraLite40 Slider suspension system available the same quarter.
