Missouri Adds 255 Truck Parking Spaces on I-70 Corridor

Key Details Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has selected KCI Construction Team to build 255 new truck parking spaces along I-70, funded by a $30 million INFRA Grant. The project will bring total public parking capacity to 506 spaces on the corridor. Why It Matters Over 10,000 trucks use I-70 daily, with all public parking areas and 75% of private truck stops reaching capacity during peak hours. Safe off-highway parking reduces costly shoulder and guardrail damage from trucks parking illegally on ramp shoulders and keeps vehicles off active traffic lanes. Project Scope Beyond parking spaces, the initiative includes pavement improvements, lighting upgrades, and expansions at Concordia, Boonville, Mineola, and Wright City rest areas. Restroom facilities will be remodeled at Wright City and Concordia locations. The corridor also has nearly 2,000 privately-owned parking spaces. Timeline Construction is tentatively scheduled for completion by December 1, 2028. KCI Vice President Brian Mulhall expressed enthusiasm about continuing partnership with MoDOT on this infrastructure improvement project.
