Vanair, DragonFly Energy, Tectran, Mitchell 1 and IMI showcased solutions designed to cut costs and boost fleet efficiency during March 15 press briefings. Vanair's New Class 8 System Vanair expanded its EPEQ battery-electric auxiliary power system to Class 8 tractors, reducing engine idling and maintenance expenses. The redesigned mounting allows batteries, inverters and solar charging to install directly on frame rails, powering sleeper cabs and supporting liftgate and refrigeration systems. The system charges from the truck's alternator while driving and via shore power at yards. DragonFly and Tectran Advances DragonFly Energy introduced a new 24-volt DualFlow Power Pack configuration with improved battery life and reduced idling impact. Its Battle Born Batteries pack includes an internal heater for cold climates. Tectran partnered with Volvo Trucks North America to develop advanced 17-pin connectors enabling greater data transfers for trailer telematics and safety systems.
