Mack ImpactShield Windshield Cuts Downtime with Corning Fusion5 Glass Technology
Key Details Mack Trucks is rolling out ImpactShield, the first Class 8 windshield using Corning Fusion5 Glass technology. This one-piece bonded curved design comes standard on the all-new Mack Granite, launching for orders in the second half of 2026 with production beginning January 2027. Why It Matters Downtime costs money. ImpactShield reduces windshield damage and replacement costs by resisting impacts and environmental wear better than conventional glass. Fleet operators can expect fewer unplanned service stops and lower maintenance expenses over the truck's lifespan. What's Available The windshield will be standard on the new Mack Granite. It's also available as an upgrade option for the Mack Pioneer, new Mack Anthem, and Mack Keystone models. The Granite also features a galvanized steel cab, 270-degree radar coverage, Electronic Park Brake with rollaway protection, and a driver-focused interior redesign. The Partnership Corning, the maker of Gorilla Glass, collaborated with Mack to adapt Fusion5 Glass for heavy-duty truck applications. The technology was originally developed for automotive exterior use and brings proven durability benefits to the trucking industry.
