Iowa 80 Museum Breaks Ground on 25K Sq Ft Expansion Project
Key Details Iowa 80 Trucking Museum officially began construction on a 25,000 square foot expansion of its exhibit hall, with the project expected to wrap up this fall. The museum announced the groundbreaking on Wednesday, April 15th and plans to keep operating during construction. Why It Matters The expansion will finally showcase trucks from the collection that have never been displayed publicly. This includes four rare Sterling trucks from the 1920s-1940s and a fully restored 1948 Mack EWSQ armored truck that once hauled coins for Wells Fargo. What's Coming According to Lee Meier, marketing manager for Iowa 80 Group, the museum's current facility has simply run out of space. "The collection of trucks and trucking memorabilia has outgrown the current facility," she explained. The new wing will give visitors access to these historical gems for the first time since restoration work was completed. Bottom Line Iowa 80's expansion underscores the museum's growing importance as a destination for trucking history enthusiasts. Drivers passing through the World's Largest Truckstop will soon have more reasons to stop and explore the expanded collection.
