Harbinger Launches HC Series Low-Cab-Forward Medium-Duty Truck
Key Details Harbinger unveiled the HC Series Cab on March 11, expanding its medium-duty vehicle lineup with both battery-electric and plug-in hybrid options. The California-based manufacturer showcased the truck at Work Truck Week 2026 in Indianapolis, marking a significant expansion beyond its traditional Classes 4-6 electric chassis focus. Why It Matters The low-cab-forward design enables longer cargo boxes on shorter wheelbases, letting fleets maximize cargo volume without increasing overall vehicle length. With a 42-foot turning diameter and three wheelbase options ranging from 158 to 208 inches, the HC Series Cab offers improved maneuverability for urban and regional operations. Hybrid Advantage The range-extended hybrid platform delivers up to 500 miles of range by using a gasoline engine to recharge batteries during operation. CEO John Harris noted that while fully electric vehicles suit about 80 percent of medium-duty applications, hybrid options are essential for longer routes and limited charging scenarios. Additional Features The truck features a 29-inch frame height at 26,000-pound GVWR for faster loading and unloading. Following Harbinger's acquisition of Phantom AI, the HC Series Cab includes enhanced safety systems with backup cameras, virtual bumpers, and acoustic vehicle alerts.
