Aperia Launches Steer Tire Version of Halo Inflation System
Key Details Aperia Technologies has expanded its Halo automatic tire inflation system to include steer axles and hubs. The self-powered device now covers all wheel positions on commercial trucks and trailers, using rotational wheel energy to maintain optimal tire pressure automatically. The announcement came at the Technology & Maintenance Council's 2026 Annual Meeting on March 16. Why It Matters Steer tire failures pose the highest safety risk, potentially causing loss of vehicle control. Proper steer tire inflation is critical for protecting drivers, equipment, cargo, and the public. The new system ensures consistent pressure monitoring on this most safety-critical wheel position. Connected Technology The steer-tire inflator integrates with Halo Connect, Aperia's intelligent tire management platform. Drivers and fleets receive predictive leak alerts, diagnostics, and real-time tread and temperature monitoring to prevent roadside failures and downtime. This proactive approach helps address tire issues before they become problems. Availability and Coverage Halo for steer tires launches in Q4 2026. The complete system now provides automatic inflation for all 18 wheels on standard tractor-trailers or all 10 wheels with wide-base tires. Major carrier Foodliner already showcased the technology at the conference.
