Amazon Expands Ultra-Fast Delivery and Returns Network for Drivers
Key Details Amazon has added 1,500 FedEx Office locations to its return drop-off network while rolling out one-hour and three-hour delivery options across hundreds of U.S. cities. The e-commerce giant now offers free returns at more than 10,000 locations nationwide, with four out of five customers living within five miles of a drop-off point. Prime members can access one-hour delivery for $9.99 or three-hour delivery for $4.99. What's Changing One-hour delivery is available for 90,000 SKUs in major metros like Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington D.C., plus smaller cities including Des Moines and Boise. Three-hour delivery spans over 2,000 cities and suburbs. Amazon also acquired RIVR, a Swiss robotics company developing four-legged delivery robots for doorstep deliveries. Why It Matters Amazon's aggressive expansion of rapid delivery and convenient returns is raising customer expectations across the industry. While beneficial for Amazon, competitors and delivery partners face pressure to match these services, which can strain margins and operational capacity. For drivers, this means increased demand for fast, efficient delivery routes and potential shifts in how last-mile logistics are handled as automation increases.
